I think bringing Land into the equation is similar to bringing in Fraction or Austen. They're all known to be misogynistic.
As I've said, I don't disagree that that women are often objectified in comics, but I think both male and female creators are responsible for it, and it's in answer to demands of the market. They know their largest audience is still SWM and include things to target that audience. A female character in skimpy gear portrayed by a female creator is no different than one portrayed by a male one.
Here's two pieces, one by Jordi Bernet (a female artist) the other by the infamous Greg Land. Which is more degrading? (I added the "x's" to keep with site ratings)
As far as male characters go, these same ones that are routinely used as eye candy and disempowered within the story also end up in bondage situations. Nightcrawler in "No More Humans" is the most recent example. How many times has Rogue saved Remy's bacon over the years? No matter how often Amanda lies and treats Kurt like an idiot, the story always boils down to her being forgiven and trying to save him in the end.
So, the comparison between these two pics has no point in terms of gender. I agree with Sundowhn: both are pin-ups. And I agree with Tiamatty: first is highly superior because Bernet knows what he's doing --not thanks to his gender awareness (he's a man!) but thanks to his talent --and, luckily, thanks to his human sensitiveness.
