My intention in creating this site was not to create the next massive internet forum(making it invite-only probably precludes that from happening) nor a internet forum police-state. It was simply to create a site where the rules regarding forum behavior are actually enforced, at least on something more than an at best random and sporadic basis. That those rules be applied to all, fairly and uniformly. A place where people don't feel forced to hide out in sub-forums and abstain from general discussions rather than deal with hate or vitriol. A place where people don't refrain from posting, retreat back to lurking, or simply leave entirely rather than keep dealing with harassment. A place where people look forward to logging in, not feel as if they need to gird themselves for battle.
Anyone can make(and hopefully take) an occasional joke, make an offhand comment, or simply be having an off day. No one is perfect or a saint and I think it would be unreasonable to expect that of anyone who posts here. There is a difference, however, between someone who will swear on occasion and someone who regularly just spews out profanity. I want this to be a place where general negativity is out-of-character. Where a difference of opinion can be shared in a constructive rather than destructive way. Where people focus more on celebrating the characters they like than hating on the ones they don't.
I want this to be a place that is not only anti-trolling, but fan-positive. A place where you can feel free to share your personal creations, be they fan-fics or fan art; cosplay and convention pictures, or images of your own collected memorabilia without fear of having it be used to troll or otherwise harass you(This forum has a number of features to help facilitate that, from member galleries to more easily keep track of and share your favorite images; to a high character count(262,144!) for both personal messages and posts, which can more easily facilitate the sharing of fan-fics. You also have to be a registered user and logged in to an account to view what is posted here).
Ultimately, this forum will be what you help make it, thrive based on the people you invite, and how active we all are at posting here.
Together, we can create a more civil place. A more respectful place. A more positive place.
...A Better Place.
