What Are Verified Accounts?
Verified Accounts as just what they say they are, accounts that have been verified that that member is who they purport to be.
Why does ABP now have them?
I see the value in being able to tell if someone, as an example, is a Stephen King, the Stephen King, a fan of the Stephen King, or someone pretending to be the Stephen King.
Who can get verified status?
Anyone we feel is a likely target of imitation for malicious ends. That would include our Staff and established creatives as two examples.
What indicates someone is Verified?
This cute little fella: He will appear on a Verified member's profiles. Like so:
How can a member get Verified?
Either a member of our Staff will contact the forum member suggesting there may be a need for it, or if a member feels there is a genuine need, they may contact me by DM.
How is Verification accomplished? Do you need a ton of personal and invasive information from us?
Nope. We don't need it and don't want it. There are three ways we will use to verify your status.
#1: Be known to us either in real life or through communications from well-established and legitimate accounts. This will most often apply to Staff members.
#2: Be Verified through another prominent and legitimate social media platform(Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.). We will give you a code to post there and after we have confirmed it has been posted to that account you will also be Verified here.
#3: Have a well established and legitimate account on another prominent and legitimate social media platform(Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.). We will give you a code to post there and after we have confirmed it has been posted to that account you will be Verified here.
Verification check-marks have been abused on some sites, doled out to show favoritism and withheld from those not in favor to convey status. I'm worried, will that happen here?
Don't be worried, I will abolish the whole thing before I let something like that happen at ABP.
Do I need to use my real name to get verified?
No, my real name isn't Icefanatic, and I am Verified.
Any more questions feel free to ask them in the thread below.
