Comic Creators Come Out In Support Of Terrorist Group Antifa
There's been speculation in recent years with the behavior of some 'heroes' in Marvel's comics, and with groups like the X-Men in particular becoming more and more like the villains they use to fight such as the Brotherhood and the MLF(Mutant Liberation Front)... That the sympathies of Marvel's creators did not only lie with the political left, or even the far-left, but with extreme-leftist-terrorists organizations like Anftifa.
One of the big problems with political extremism on either end of the spectrum is the terrorists on your end of the spectrum often seem like heroes. They claim to be for what you are and against what you are against, how could you not support them? Antifa, 'Anti-Fascists', it's right there in the name. Who isn't against fascism, right?
You could make a long list of horrible organization with the most positive-sounding names you can imagine. 'White Pride' groups will say they are no different than 'Black Pride' or 'Gay Pride' groups. No one in their right mind believes that.
Antifa claims to be fighting Fascism. Their definition of Fascism is generally any government authority or anyone in favor of any government authority. To achieve that, one of their primary stated goals is the end of all police and military. To accomplish that they have called for the murder of ALL police officers and ALL soldiers. They generate good public relations by occasionally warring with other violent hate groups as they famously did in Charlottesville, but generally direct their actions against average citizens.
They infiltrate and co-opt generally peaceful protests and use them as cover to carry out their violence and hate. They vandalize storefronts, setting cars and business on fire. They beat business owners and employees, reporters and random bystanders with bicycle locks and other improvised weapons. They throw bricks and frozen water bottles at police and National Guard troops... not only to hurt or kill them, but to motivate the police to attack back, hoping to get the peaceful protesters caught in the conflict to make law enforcement look bad. Some of their members have used guns to both shoot and kill police officers, completely in line with the group's kill-cops mandate.
White Pride groups would burn down a minority neighborhood and say they are doing it to protect their race. Antifa would burn down a neighborhood, also usually a minority neighborhood, and claim they are doing it to fight fascism. They may use different excuses for their violence and hate but the results are often the same. It should be noted that Antifa is mostly white in it's makeup...
As you can see from this story Marvel Comics Artist Mahmud Asrar and Frank Cho Appear To Endorse Antifa , comic creators are sadly no longer even bothering to hide their Antifa support/affiliation.
You can also add writer Jeff Lemire to the list as both he and Frank Cho tweeted out...
Clearly modeled on Antifa's flag.
I'm not going to tell anyone what to read or buy, there's too much of that going around already. Speaking for myself, I have bought, read and enjoyed a ton of comics by both Jeff Lemire and Frank Cho. I have several books by Mahmud Asrar. I feel that if I continue to buy books by these people I am giving them both money they could use to support Antifa and success with which they will use to have a louder voice to show support for Antifa. I am not willing to facilitate either.
Between that and a now-deleted tweet by Rick Remender saying he didn't want anyone who supports President Trump to buy his comics... I was buying almost every book Remender wrote as you may have noticed by some of my posts here, and have been for years. He's said things like that before but I finally hit the breaking point with him and decided to take him up on his request. Remender routinely gets vilified by liberal comic fans over his work while he inexplicably wages war against the largely-Conservative fans who like his work. I'm tired of giving money to a creator who is an asshole to his fans.
My monthly comic order is about to get smaller again. My wallet is happier, but I'm not.
