So I just watched Joe Biden try to capitalize on our nation's current strife by giving a lengthy speech where he blamed Trump for everything that is happening and painted himself as the cure for all our nation's ills, and finished it all with a fundraising request for people to text to.
Where was that Cure-All-Joe in the previous administration, the one that was just in power three years ago?
When good police were facing false allegations, and targeted assaults and death and people were looking to the White House for leadership and support for the eight years of the Obama/Biden administration... they were mostly ignored and met with silence.
When good citizens were facing harassment, brutality and even death at the hands of bad police and people were looking to the White House for leadership and support for the eight years of the Obama/Biden administration... they were mostly ignored and met with silence.
And when things got really bad and there were huge nationwide marches and massive public outcries... Obama and Biden would take the stage, spout some platitudes, quote Dr. King and then scurry back into whatever leadership vacuum they crawled out of.
Joe Biden spent decades in the Senate backing legislation that lead to mass incarceration. He and Obama spent years fundraising off of calls for criminal justice reform without doing much of any of it.
Trump didn't run on it, he didn't fundraise off of it, he just did it.
By most polls and metrics when Obama and Biden left the White House race relations were about twenty percent worse than they were when the two of them took office eight years earlier.
Biden spent decades in the Senate backing legislation that made the problems worse, and almost another decade in the White House either ignoring them, or spouting platitudes and fundraising off of them.
And now at the end of his political life he wants us to look to him once more to make things better, to trust in him to fix things?
C'mon, man...
