As some of you know I am a Nats fan. I debated posting about them a few times recently but didn't want to do anything to jinx things until it was all over. And all over turned out to be winning the World Series. I just got through watching the parade and it was awesome. The guys on the stage showed so much of what made this season great.
It's been a wild ride. Before the start of the season the team's superstar had left for Philly and more money(never cared for ya Bryce, bye). Back in the spring the Nat's record was so bad they didn't seem to have a chance in hell of even making it to the post season(I think statistically it was around 1%). Key players collected injuries. The team couldn't seem to catch fire. Fans called for Manager Dave Martinez to be fired. I may have been one of those people(sorry Dave).
Then came some important acquisitions and a strange thing broke out. Fun. Joy. The Nats became a family. Parra brought the 'Baby Shark'. There were 'dances in the dugout'. Duo celebrations like Howie and Adam 'driving trucks'. The 'group hugs'. There was Max's 'blackeye game'. A mythology started to form around the Nationals. The fans embrace it all. The Nats had to fight there way into the post season and fight for everything after, except for sweeping the Cards, which made all the people who kept treating the Nats even being in the post season as a mistake shut up a little.
Every time time they were out, they fought back. A bad call in game six of the World Series pissed the team off and brought Tony Two-Bags roaring back in a key moment. The Nats were back in it. As they said at the start of the season, they 'stayed in the fight'. They finished it, too. And they won.
Congrats, guys, and thanks for a season that was everything.
