Bryan Singer Fired from Queen Biopic After Reported Feud with Star Rami Malek, Absences
It looks like that unexpected leave of absence Bryan Singer was taking from the production of Bohemian Rhapsody, the Queen biopic starring Rami Malek as Freddy Mercury, has turned into a permanent vacation. THR reports that 20th Century Fox told them in a statement that Singer is no longer the director of the film.
THR goes on to report that the production was enveloped in “chaos” due to Singer feuding with star Rami Malek. According to the report, Malek was unhappy with repeated absences from the set by Singer, and their disagreement developed into a confrontation that reportedly involved Singer “throwing an object.” Fox also warned Singer, according to THR, for unprofessional behavior and a representative of the Directors’ Guild had to be on hand at the site to oversee things. THR also reports that an “insider” says Singer claims to be suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome due to the friction on set.

Bryan Singer Says Fox Fired Him Because He Was Caring For Sick Parent
Director Bryan Singer has fired back at Fox following the announcement Monday afternoon that the studio had fired Singer from the production of Bohemian Rhapsody, the Queen biopic starring Rami Malek. Reports said the studio fired Singer for taking absences from the set too often, and that those absences propelled Singer Headlong into conflict (involving a thrown object) with star Malek and also Tom Hollander, who at one point said I Want To Break Free and quit the film, though he was later persuaded to return.
However, Singer fired back in a Flash… Ahh-ahh, saying he wasn’t just Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon, and there was a legitimate reason for his absences, which Fox refused to accommodate.
“‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ is a passion project of mine,” a statement issued to Variety read. “With fewer than three weeks to shoot remaining, I asked Fox for some time off so I could return to the U.S. to deal with pressing health matters concerning one of my parents. This was a very taxing experience, which ultimately took a serious toll on my own health. Unfortunately, the studio was unwilling to accommodate me and terminated my services. This was not my decision and it was beyond my control.”
Fox, unfortunately, decided that The Show Must Go On, and since Singer wasn’t there, they terminated him under his pay or play contract. Fox didn’t comment on any of the alleged friction between Singer and actors on the set. Those reports were all based on Innuendo, but Singer addressed them anyway.
“While, at times, we did have creative differences on set, Rami and I successfully put those differences behind us and continued to work on the film together until just prior to Thanksgiving,” Singer continued in his statement. “I wanted nothing more than to be able to finish this project and help honor the legacy of Queen, but Fox would not permit me to do so because I needed to temporarily put my health, and the health of my loved ones, first.”

Moving Day: Bryan Singer’s Production Company Moving out of the Fox Lot
The day kept on getting longer for Bryan Singer. News had previously emerged earlier today that 20th Century Fox had fired Singer from his role as director of the band Queen’s biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody. Now Hollywood Reporter has learned that Singers production company Bad Hat Harry has been rapidly vacating it’s offices which it had been occupying on the 20th Century Fox lot.
Singer had been enjoying a long-term relationship with Fox with a multi-year first-look deal which had expired in October but Fox had declined to renew. Bad Hat Harry had produced five feature films (X-Men, X2, X-Men: First Class, X-Man: Days of Future Past, and X-Men: Apocalypse ) and two television series (House and The Gifted) with Fox, not including the now stalled Queen film.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is also a Bad Hat Harry production, and its principal photography had previously completed in October. It’s director is Simon Kinberg, so Singer’s departure from Fox might not impact it. However if this current turmoil has expanded from Singer personally to all of Bad Hat, then it will put some questionmarks around how it may proceed.

I don't think this comes as a surprise to anyone watching the 'Weinstein effect' as it sweeps powerful, previously untouchable, predators from power. Brian Singer has faced numerous allegations for years, from hosting 'pool parties' that consisted of a lot of underage teens as guests coupled with lots of alcohol, drugs and predatory older men(Singer has repeatedly stated he hides in his bedroom at his own parties and doesn't know what really goes on...) to one young(but legal age)actor accusing him of essentially kidnapping him at gunpoint and flying him to another stars to provide sexual favors.
Then there are his friends...
Kevin Spacey - Initially recently accused of taking a very underage child actor home from a party decades ago(Anthony Rapp of Rent and Star Trek: Discovery) and while the kid was impaired from substances, tried to have sex with him - now has a list of at least 15 accusers. Spacey has since been fired from 'House of Cards' and is being re-shot out of a film in production.
Gary Goddard - Founder and CEO of The Goddard Group, an entertainment design firm based in North Hollywood, who has recently been accused by Anthony Edwards(Goose from Top Gun and TV's 'ER') of molesting him as a child an raping one of his friends, with another accuser having come forward. Goddard is taking a leave of absence from the company he founded.
Brian Peck - Pedophile X-Men actor convicted of sexually abusing Nickelodeon child star and STILL working with underage kids. Peck served 16 months in prison after admitting two counts of abusing a Nickelodeon child actor. He was charged with eight counts of sexual abuse, including abuse by 'by anesthesia or controlled substance'. Peck was in two X-Men movies and all three Living Dead movies and is now featured in controversial documentary on pedophile abuse in Hollywood. Since being released from prison he has been dialogue coach, worked on Disney TV series and played teacher and claims to be friend of Charlie Sheen and Director Brian Singer(who have faced similar allegations in the past)
Peck is only banned from direct contact with children, so he is still able to work on children's series and on sets with underage actors.
Peck is also one of the subjects of the documentary - An Open Secret - that tells the story of five victims who say they were molested as young boys trying to make it in the film business. Peck's victim also made allegations in the past against Brain Singer.
Now Singer is abruptly fired off a film he had just a couple of weeks of shooting left on. His production team 'Bat Hat Harry Productions', that has been entrenched at Fox for a couple of decades now, has pulled out. And Brian Singer's publicist abruptly just quit.
I think the 'Weinstein effect', coupled with Disney looking to acquire Fox properties and productions, may have finally provoked Fox into doing something about Singer...that and/or another story about Singer is about to break.
