In the latest episode of good things coming to an end...
(Don't worry kids, Chiller is going to live on a farm, along with Marvel Heroes Omega...don't pay any attention to that dirt-covered shovel in the corner. )

As a horror fan I hate this, but it's hardly a surprise. There have been talks of killing the channel in previous years. I was lucky to even be able to still see it because Dish Network dropped it awhile ago, and Comcast never even carried it.
It needed more original programming. There are a number of shows on it's sister-station SyFy (also owned by NBC Universal) that would have made a better fit thematically on Chiller (Z Nation, 12 Monkeys, Wynonna Earp, Van Helsing, Channel Zero, Ghost Wars, Superstition), but the investment was just not there. NBC Universal has generally done a poor job with SyFy overall, there were a number of years there where it looked to be headed for cancellation. I think the extreme popularity of Sharknado and related films probably saved it from the axe.

Chiller To Be Axed By NBC Universal After It Struggles To Secure Carriers
Coming out of Deadline Hollywood, NBC Universal has plans to kill its horror-centric Chiller channel at the end of the year. This comes a surprising move, as it is a ten-year-old channel watched by 40-million viewers. However, NBC apparently had troubles with carriers willing to support Chiller.
The channel was devoted to horror fare, debuting new films, its own Canadian television horror series called Slasher, it had its own reality television programming, notorious horror director Eli Roth debuted a number of short films in his Slice of Summer Fest on the channel, and it was given the rights to show horror and sci-fi classics such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Twilight Zone, and Tales from the Crypt.
As previously stated, the channel is set to be killed by the end of the year after struggles with the likes of Dish Network, Verizon, and other carrier services.
