This thread will provide a list of online resources for fans looking to acquire information about various elements of fandom. This is not a thread for fan-listings or fan-pages of characters.
You can always quickly navigate to this thread via the 'External Resources' link on our site's menu bar, or access some of the more generally useful links on it's dropdown menu.
Don't see something listed you think should be, post it in the thread below. If the site's Staff agrees with you, it will eventually be edited into the first post.
...and maybe even to the dropdown menu on the External Resources tab!

CMRO: The Complete Marvel Reading Order
cmro.travis-starnes.com/
The goal of the Order is to put all the comics of the main Marvel universe in a readable order. To have the events from issues flow in a way that makes sense, so if an event or comic is referenced in one issue, you have already read the comic being referenced. The Order also tries to keep all the characters where they should be. So if the Hulk is wandering around in Siberia, he isn’t seen intermittently in Nevada at the same time. There are of course times with the convoluted nature of the Marvel universe will make this impossible, but the goal is to get it as close as they can.
Why not just read in the order they were published?
It comes off as a bit confusing to read part 1 of this Daredevil story, part 2 of a Spider-Man story, then say a stand alone X-Men before going back and reading part 2 of the daredevil story. That is the main goal of the Order, to allow you to read comics in the way they were intended but also in an order that is readable (so story lines are intact and characters are in as good a place as they can place them). They also try and take pacing and readability into account when placing comics from the same time period, of course after continuity and story lines are accounted for.
Aren't there already chronological orders out there? What makes the CMRO different?
There are several of them in fact. But that is not what this project is. While chronology and continuity have a place in the Order, it is trumped by readability (you will find many chronological orders break single issues up even by page) and by intent of the writer (no mixing comics written 40 years apart because one is a flashback). Chronological orders have their place, and are great tools, but this order is about reading, not just listing.
Marvel Chronology Project
www.chronologyproject.com
The MCP is an effort to catalog every actual appearance by every significant character in the Marvel Universe, and place them in their proper chronological order. There are very few graphics on the site, in an effort to cut the download time.
If there's a particular character that's struck your fancy, that you just can't live without owning their every appearance, this is the place to start. Simply click on the first character of their name (if it's a supporting character, then the first letter of their last name), and the Project will take you to an alphabetical listing of all characters starting with that letter. You'll notice that some characters have links on their names. These links take you to either a cross-referenced MCP web page, or to a web page at another site dedicated to that character. If you have a web page that features a Marvel character, let them know and they will add a link if it's appropriate.
First, however, you should visit the key and read the FAQ. The key gives you more detailed information about the project, including their charter, an abbreviations list, a list of titles covered, and what qualifies as an "appearance." The FAQ (or Frequently Asked Questions) goes into more detail on these and many other points.
Because of newly released comics, the MCP will be in a constant state of flux.
