I completely forgot about this series until I watched an X-Men video about the Nimrod/Iceman comic book on YouTube. Granted, I did make a couple of comments earlier in this thread, but it just goes to show how dead Iceman has been to me. He just isn't that interesting in the least bit to me anymore. I'm not pinning it on the character being gay at all, but rather the writers and their lack of interesting character development besides his sexuality and sexual antics.... Iceman is gay, I get it, and I don't have a problem with that. He was also an amazing hero for decades before that, so I wish writers would recognize that and set aside the gay antics by giving him more purpose to his existence, or pushing even more boundaries on his abilities, and what other incredible feats he's capable of that hasn't already been addressed or shown.
In the mean time, I really can't say "Make mine Marvel" anymore. Not at this time...
I haven't been able to say "Make mine Marvel" in a long time. I read a few books here and there when it's a character I like with a good writer that depicts them faithfully and tells good stories. That is a rarity in today's comics, especially at Marvel/DC. I stopped making my monthly trek to a comic shop in a nearby city earlier this year. Too little enjoyment for too much expense. Add to that the high gas prices and inflation and I couldn't justify it anymore. Marvel is also supposedly going to a $4.99 price-point for their regular issues early next year, as well. Five dollars for a standard monthly comic...
As for Iceman specifically, It's sad the state the character has been reduced to. He was a popular character with broad appeal and now he plays to a tiny niche audience.
Hopefully better things for Iceman are on the horizon. I'm expecting the OG Iceman to return as the Dragon in the pages of the current Jean Grey limited series(I think he is already back appearing as 'Apocalypse' in the connected story-line in Immortal X-Men). I'm expecting the Adult-Gay-Iceman to die for real at the end of his current mini-series and for Young-Gay-Iceman to make his way permanently to the main Marvel universe in the ORIGINAL X-MEN #1 (2023)(one-shot) out this December. If I'm reading the tea leaves right the next two months will be HUGE for Iceman. Fingers crossed!
