I watched the whole thing. I found both Dr. Ford and Judge Kavanaugh compelling. I also have serious doubts about the accuracy of both of their recollections of events.

It's a shame Dr. Ford not only didn't do a cognitive interview, but didn't get one prior to being prepped for weeks to give testimony for the hearing. Attorneys generally focus on firming up confidence and strong points while deflecting or negating anything that conflicts. There was so much politics at play, it largely failed as a hunt for the truth.

I've seen various episodes of shows like Criminal Minds and Law and Order Special Victims Unit that could have had either one revealed as ultimately right, or had the truth somewhere in-between. We've all seen things like that play out, in the news as well.

I'm reminded of the 'credible accusations' not long ago that Corey Lewandowski violently grabbed and threw to the floor a female reporter, even backed up by an eye witness. He denied ever touching her. He was competently vilified right up until a video of the encounter surfaced, where it showed that he did briefly TOUCH her to stop her moving into a restricted area, but...it did not appear in any way violent, and she was not thrown to the floor or anywhere else. It's entirely possible that it was so incidental from his perspective that he didn't even recall it happening.

While Kavanaugh and his friend Mark Judge were known people to Dr. Ford, it is entirely possible that they were much less aware of who SHE was. I was much more aware of who the Seniors were at my school when I was fifteen than they were aware of younger kids in the lower grades. I knew all of their names, I doubt many of them even knew mine even if they sometimes spoke to me in passing. And this involved different schools and groups that didn't really interact much with each other.

I could easily see a scenario where something...somewhat like that event described happened, to what degree...who knows, but was so innocuous from the perspectives of Kavanaugh and Judge that they don't even recall it, while Dr. Ford experienced it as a very traumatic event that has possibly become increasingly worse in her memories over time. Memories are not static, and it is amazing how our memories of things evolve over time. A minor altercation becomes a major one. Usually the memories become more aligned with the emotions involved. If you emotionally felt something as horrible, over time the memories then become colored by those emotions, and 35 years is a long time to let emotions fester and memories fall prey to that.

It's also possible that they never had any meaningful interaction with her at all. The people in their circles don't recall them interacting. Her alleged witnesses, including her close friend, don't remember it happening(she doesn't even remember meeting Judge Kavanaugh). Dr. Ford cannot say where it happened, or when even to the certainty of what year. The one thing Dr. Ford can point to as some kind of marker, is seeing Mark Judge working at a grocery store around that time, a detail she literally could have gotten from reading his semi-autobiographical book. I'm old enough to remember the McMartin preschool trial, a part of the larger 'day-care sex-abuse hysteria' from the 80's and into early 90's, which taught me a lot about how people can remember and fully believe very horrific things that are not remotely true.

I've debated about whether or not to add this part, because I don't want to accuse anybody of anything, but...anyone who knows much of anything about signs of childhood sexual abuse could see them ALL OVER Dr. Ford during her testimony. From her voice to her mannerisms, to her way of speaking and even interacting. It was consistent with that of a young child, which is usually indicative of when the onset of abuse begins. Several years before this alleged encounter would be my gut instinct. It's also somewhat odd that while we have heard repeatedly about her receiving support from her family through this, it's actually her husband's family. Her own parents and siblings have been strangely silent.

Oftentimes in such cases memories of past abuse become conflated with other things or people, sometimes events years apart. I think, frankly, there is a lot to look into regarding Dr. Ford possibly being victimized that has NOTHING to do with Judge Kavanaugh.

While this wasn't a trial, I do believe in a presumption of innocence. I find the accusations fundamentally unprovable and I feel the Democrats basically used Dr. Ford as a weapon for political gains, literally avoiding EVERY method available to them to get more information at every opportunity except something that would likely push the hearing past the mid-term elections. With the notable exceptions of a few principled Democrats, their end-goal was clear...and sadly Dr. Ford, Judge Kavanaugh, their families and this country have payed the price for that.
