Have to say, I'm not sure what to think of this book. It could be great, being written by Claremont... but it's also written by Claremont, who is long past his prime. Hopefully, he'll tone down the verbosity&over-usage of exposition, and at the least we'd have an enjoyable book. (And I got attacked on 'the other forum' -- and can't we just call it by it's real name? If we can, then I will -- just by suggesting that Claremont is not this saint who could do no wrong. The man's practically untouchable over there. Even if you suggest that he's good but still has problems, they'll accost you and tear your guts out.)
You can name the other forum if you want, we all know its CBR. I just never like to directly point, but feel free to reference that forum any way you want as long as its not vulgar.
Now to the crux of the comment. IA - CC makes me nervous. He's in charge of two male characters and I can't recall the last time he actually wrote a strong male character. He has always been partial to female characters. XXM is a perfect example. He wrote all the females well but the male characters were all relegated to support roles. Not every issue, there were a few times the guys shined but it wasn't very often. I'm surprised he's getting Wolverine in the book. I think because Wood took allot of the female characters CC would want to write, he didn't get loads of choices. And its possible that Marvel wants Wolverine in this book as well.
Also, his love of "I am (insert name)", whether that is a villain or the hero comes across so cheesy. I hope he doesn't do that sort of thing.
As for Xmen Forever, I did enjoy that but again, he focused more on the female characters and oddly enough Sabertooth. Gambit was in that book and while he handled him well, he didn't really do much with him other than hook him up with Kitty in the end.
I'll give the book an arc and see how it goes.
