Xmen '92
The first issue was released in digital first. The print copy will be out June 2015.
The first issue was cheesy, smarmy, campy and a disappointment. While I expected XTAS feel to the book, the amount of cheese and campy-ness was too much and felt more like a parody than an actual homage to the series and the 90's.
The only characters that were not written horribly was Rogue, Beast and Jean. Although, not much was done with Jean.
Cyke was a boyscout but a tad over kill with it. Yes, he is not a grey type guy in general but angst from his character was too much.
Gambit and Storm were just not right. Cheesy too. They were both written poorly. How many "childs, and goddess" are too much in a book. Good grief, I waited for Sims and Bower to channel CC and put in "I AM STORM".
Jubilee was alright, a bit over the top mall rat type take on her but it wasn't off putting.
I like this team, I really do but if these writers don't dial it down in the cheese dept and actually write them as something other than parody, I don't see how the book will sustain itself. Nostalgia is nice but it will only carry it so far.
As for myself - the amount of support I normally give a book will not be the case for this one:

Note, no LOL or elaboration as with other characters asked about in the book.
That was an unprofessional thing to say and to a fan about their favorite character. For those who don't like Gambit, I'm sure you don't care but this comment and attitude is what made me decide to not buy a print copy of the book. First time I've never bought a print copy of a title that had Gambit as a team member in the book.
In addition this is twice a writer at Marvel has made a disparaging remark about Gambit and follow it up in a book. This does not sit well with me.
Sims/Bower had Rogue call Gambit a creep. Creep is not a word that is flirtatious.
Anyway - not happy or impressed with this offering.

Cyclops and Gambit aren't the only '90s X-Men that fans are asking about. Neko wants to know how you will write the X-Men's Ragin' Cajun, Gambit.
Looking forward to this book the most. Will Gambit be the mysterious guy he should be? And how much of a wild card type role do you have planned for Gambit?
Sims: Gambit will be a scumbag.
"Everyone can relax. Gambit... will be a scumbag." Now that I've filled my "X-Men" Paraphrase Quota, we can move on to a question from FlawedCoil82 about the characters' iconic looks.
