As for Wood - I didn't buy his book. I didn't care for the all female xmen book.
I liked the idea of the book, and I liked how it was handled. I thought Wood did a great job with it. The characterizations were all really good. Lots of badassery. Jubilee's adoption of Shogo was heartwarming. His subplot with Bling! and Mercury was really good.
I also liked that Wood remembered that the New X-Men characters, you know, exist. This book started up well into Jason Aaron's WatXM run, and Aaron seemed to not know that any of the New X-Men existed. Rockslide showed up for a single (awful, awful) arc, but that was pretty much it. Other than that, they were lucky if they got to be wallpaper. Wood had New X-Men characters showing up all through. His last arc had a few fighting Sentinels, and the new arc is going to have a few being put through their paces by Psylocke.
Speaking of Psylocke, I like that Wood expanded her repertoire of psychic weapons. Bow and arrow, crossbow, morningstar - it was neat to see.
This was a great book. And now it's going to be taken over by a guy who is just not a good writer. It's such a damned shame.
The savior baby thing - not a selling point.
The students showing up, not a selling point. The characters that should have been making guest appearances are the one Wood completely ignored considering the cast he put together.
To me, it was here you go - Wonder Women are here to save the day and do so with a baby tagging along. Even the first group of villains were all estrogen. Though, I did like the concept of the sisterhood. I just didn't like it enough to spend time or money on it.
The hype for the book, "oh look, its an all female Xmen team", so what. Nothing wrong with it, just didn't appeal to me. I'm not invested in any of the characters in the book or have enough interest to spend dollars on it.
The guy taking over doesn't mean anything to me, I won't miss what I don't buy anyway.
