We'll have to wait and see if Talisman actually dies - I'm actually leaning towards her surviving - but I do have to say this Wendigo arc is looking utterly skippable. There's bits and pieces of characterization here and there, but not enough. Kyle and Yost seem to be trying to kick their run off with an action-oriented arc. And I'll give them credit, they're doing a good job with that side of it. There's a very effective horror feel to the writing (though the art holds it back a bit; Barberi's a great artist, but he's not the right fit for this arc, which needed an artist with a darker tone). The thing is, I read comics for the characters (not necessarily specific characters, I mean I read them to get insight into who they are as people, for the personal drama and all that). An arc that's all action can be nice once in a while after a lot of drama-heavy arcs, but Kyle and Yost are just starting, so I feel like they should've started with an arc that's a bit light but does a lot of insight into the characters they'll be using.
Hopefully, they'll do more of that after this arc. But in the meantime, like I said, I'm finding it worth skipping.
Of course, considering how often my views diverge from the norm on here, that probably means this is a must-read for you people.
I think Amazing was managing to do as well as it was because it was something different on offer and Kyost seem to be taking that away. We'll see what happens with this.
